Memorial Day, Free Enterprise, & The Opportunity Too Many People Waste

Have you ever stopped to really think about the freedom you have? Today is Memorial Day and isn’t just about hot dogs, beach trips, or an extra day off. It’s about remembering the ones who never made it home. It’s about sacrifice. It’s about the price that’s been paid for the freedoms we wake up with every single day… and often take for granted.

I served in the United States Air Force from 2001 to 2007. I was deployed to Iraq in 2003 during Operation Iraqi Freedom and also to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom. I served alongside men and women who sacrificed everything—some of whom never came back.

And that’s why this article isn’t just about patriotism or Memorial Day. It’s about free enterprise—and why it’s a privilege far too many people are wasting.

Freedom Isn’t Just Political — It’s Economic

We live in one of the few places in the world where anyone—regardless of background, age, education, or connections—can wake up tomorrow and start a business. That’s not just inspiring—it’s rare. In many parts of the world, people are still limited by oppressive governments, broken economies, or lack of access to basic tools. But here, you can open a laptop or pull out a smartphone and begin building something that changes your life.

You can earn an affiliate commission from your phone. You can launch a network marketing business with almost no overhead. You can share your experiences, serve others, and get paid for the value you bring to the marketplace. That kind of access isn’t just a luxury—it’s a form of freedom. It’s the purest form of opportunity. And it’s one that generations before us fought hard to protect.

But here’s the hard truth: most people treat that freedom like it’s no big deal. They scroll right past life-changing opportunities without a second thought. They complain about their jobs, their bills, their schedule—yet refuse to carve out even an hour to work on something that could get them free from it all. They spend hours watching Netflix or endlessly scrolling social media, numbing the discomfort of a life they say they want to change, while ignoring the very path that could lead them there.

This isn’t about judgment—it’s about awareness. We’ve become so comfortable with freedom that we’ve forgotten what a privilege it really is. We’ve normalized distraction and complacency, and in doing so, we dishonor the very gift of choice that free enterprise gives us.

The truth is, you’re not behind. You’re not too late. And you’re certainly not lacking opportunity. You are surrounded by it—every day. The question is: are you recognizing it? Or are you letting it pass by while waiting for some perfect moment to get started?

Because not taking advantage of the freedom to build something of your own—especially when others gave their lives to protect that right—isn’t just a missed opportunity. It’s a waste of the very freedom they died to defend.

What Would Those Who Died for Your Freedom Say About That?

Let’s get real.

Thousands of men and women have died wearing the same uniform I wore. I served in the United States Air Force from 2001 to 2007. I was deployed to Iraq in 2003 for Operation Iraqi Freedom, and later to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom (read more about my story here). I’ve stood shoulder to shoulder with heroes—people who knew the risks and still chose to serve anyway. Some of them never made it home to enjoy a Memorial Day BBQ.

This was me in 2003, I just turned 20 years old there…

memorial day

These weren’t just names on a wall or statistics in a report. They were real people—brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, parents, friends. And they gave their lives believing in something bigger than themselves. They believed in the promise of America. They believed in the idea that freedom matters. That opportunity is worth protecting. That liberty is worth dying for.

But here’s what they didn’t die for…

They didn’t die so we could live small lives filled with fear and hesitation.

They didn’t give everything so we could stay in jobs we hate, complain about our situation, or settle for “just enough” because it feels safer than taking a shot at more.

They didn’t sacrifice their futures so we could scroll social media for hours while ignoring the opportunity to build something real.

They died so we could be free.

Free to think. Free to speak. Free to pursue our dreams. And yes—free to build businesses, create income, and take full advantage of a system that lets you rise based on effort, value, and vision.

In a free-market economy, you don’t need permission to succeed. You don’t need a gatekeeper to validate you. You don’t need to wait for someone to give you a shot—you can create your own.

That’s powerful. That’s rare. And that’s sacred.

Wasting that freedom—not because you can’t, but because you won’t—isn’t just a missed opportunity. It’s an insult to the people who never got the chance to try.

This Memorial Day, don’t just remember their sacrifice—honor it by living fully, leading boldly, and building something that matters. Because that’s what freedom is for.

Free Enterprise Is a Godsend—Claim it This Memorial Day

If you’ve ever caught yourself saying things like:

“I just don’t have the time.”

“I’m not sure where to start.”

“I’m waiting until things calm down…”

You’re not alone—but you’re also missing the point.

This is the same mental trap far too many people fall into. It sounds logical, even responsible. But really, it’s hesitation wrapped in a disguise. It’s fear masquerading as reason. You’re sitting on a goldmine and convincing yourself it’s not the right time to dig.

But let me be blunt: there is no perfect time. There’s just now—and what you do with it.

You have the freedom right now, today, on Memorial Day, to change your life. You have the ability, the access, and the tools. Most people around the world don’t. And many brave men and women—some of whom I served with—died so you could.

That’s not something to take lightly.

So today—on Memorial Day—don’t just reflect on sacrifice. Honor it. Live like you understand what was paid for you to have the life you do.

If you’re reading this, you already have access to more than enough:

You can start an affiliate marketing business that works while you sleep.

You can join a network marketing opportunity with built-in training, mentorship, and systems.

You can launch a home-based business that builds residual income for your family—for years to come.

All of that is available to you right now. Not next week. Not “someday.”

And if you ignore that? If you keep waiting, watching, and telling yourself the timing has to be perfect?

Then you’re choosing struggle in a world that offers solutions.

You’re choosing excuses in a country that gives you opportunity.

And respectfully—that’s not what freedom is for.

The time is now. Not just to remember. But to move.

Here’s the Bottom Line on Memorial Day & Free Enterprise

Freedom isn’t free.

It never was.

It was fought for on foreign soil and defended in hostile airspace. It was earned through sacrifice, discipline, and courage most people can’t fathom. It was paid for by men and women who never got to come home.

That’s not a slogan—it’s a reality. One I lived through during my time in the Air Force from 2001 to 2007, with boots on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan. I’ve seen the cost up close. I’ve lost brothers and sisters who gave everything for the simple idea that we should be free to pursue something more.

So what does that have to do with business?

Everything.

Because when you build something with your freedom—when you take that opportunity and create impact, income, and independence—you’re honoring the very thing they died for.

That’s why I believe free enterprise is one of the most powerful forms of gratitude you can give. It allows you to build a life worth fighting for. A life of contribution, not just consumption. A life that reflects the possibilities they gave their lives to protect.

With free enterprise, you can create income that supports your family—without asking anyone’s permission. Build a mission that inspires others to rise up and lead. Shift your family’s future—so your children don’t start where you started. Do it all from home, on your own terms, with tools that are already in your hands

That’s not just entrepreneurship. That’s freedom in motion.

I’ve seen what it looks like to serve. I’ve watched people give everything for the idea of liberty. People have been buried who would’ve given anything for the opportunity you have right now.

So I’ll say it plainly: Don’t waste it.

Don’t waste the freedom to speak, build, market, grow, and earn. Use your voice. Use your skills. Use your story. Use your God-given, blood-bought freedom to build something that matters—not just for you, but for your family… your future… and everyone who’s watching you.

Build with purpose. Build with pride. Build like someone who remembers what this freedom cost.

And if you’re ready to finally take the step—whether that’s affiliate marketing, network marketing, or starting your own brand—I want to help you do it right.

I’m offering a FREE 20-minute coaching session (valued at $175) to help you clarify your offer, launch a funnel that actually converts, build a business that reflects your mission—and your freedom.
